MBC Statement on H1N1

At MBC and Camp Widjiitiwin, the safety and well-being of our campers, program participants and staff is a top priority. In that respect, we are closely monitoring information about the Novel H1N1 influenza virus (swine flu) from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHTLC) and our local health unit.

We have been recently notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit of outbreaks of H1N1 in summer camps in their jurisdiction and that outbreaks may continue to occur in other camps over the summer. We take this matter very serioiusly. Please download and read the following documents to learn about the safeguards designed and recommended by the MOHLTC that we are putting into place to protect our campers and staff.

MBC announces new CFO

In our pursuit of developing MBC into a ‘THRIVING’ Kingdom ministry organization, we have retained a candidate to fulfill the role of Chief Financial Officer at MBC. This candidate is Jamie Bell. Jamie comes to us from Algonquin Automotive where he fulfilled the role of Vice President – Finance. Previously he served as Director of Finance with Kraft Canada Inc.

Not only does he come well qualified for the role, he comes with a passion for God’s Kingdom work and is excited to use his gifts to contribute to what God is doing through Muskoka Bible Centre. He is married to Tara and together they are enjoying raising their two children in the Huntsville area.

Jamie will be overseeing the administrative, financial and risk management systems of Muskoka Bible Centre as well as Fair Havens Ministries, and will be working with both teams to build systems that will improve the planning, financial, compliance and reporting strength of these two organizations. We believe he will be a great asset to the Kingdom work of God here at MBC as well as to the Christ-centred camp and conference movement across Canada.

Jamie will begin his role at MBC in mid-August, 2009. Your support and encouragement to Jamie as he joins the team is appreciated.

Children’s Ministry

Children are an important focus at MBC and we are dedicated to providing quality programming for them throughout the summer. Children’s chapel is available daily, during both the morning and the evening chapel services. Children’s programming is offered for children 0 to grade 5 [Nursery (0-30 months), Hoppers (2.5 years – JK and potty trained), Jumpers (SK-Grade 1), Skippers (Grades 2-3), X-Trainers (Grades 4-5)]. Programming involves interactive Bible lessons, singing, games, crafts, and memory verses. Children can also look forward to hay rides, water fun, and outdoor activities. Every night we will have a continued missionary story or Christian hero story. Children’s ministry is committed to evangelism and discipleship, a safe and caring environment, building strong relationships and having fun. Well trained young people, who are committed to being strong role models, look forward to caring for your child(ren). Our goal is to come alongside you to help your child(ren) to develop and grown in their relationship with the Lord and assist them in leading Godly Christian lives.

Women of Grace

Empowering women with tools of truth for their journey of love, obedience and service to Jesus Christ. Offering spring and fall retreats with dynamic speakers, worship, fun, time in the Word and fellowship.

During the summer conference we meet for a time of coffee and fellowship. Bringing women together to be ministered to according to their needs.

Happy New Year to you!

January is quickly coming to an end and we are putting together the details of our Spring retreats.

Our registration forms will be available on line as of February 1st 2010 and we have three wonderful speakers coming to share their lives and how the Lord works through their lives. Sue Minn will be with us on May 28 – 30, Patty LeRoche on June 4-6 and Virelle Kidder will return to MBC on June 11-13, 2010.

The winter newsletter for Women of Grace will be in your mail box shortly with more details. Plan to attend one of this years Women of Grace weekends, you will be glad you did.
