Greetings everyone!

This spring has been beautiful in Muskoka, and we have enjoyed sharing our facility and meals with many retreat guests at MBC.

One of my favourite new dishes this year would have to be “Pulled Pork on a Bun with Slaw”.

A favourite of our neighbours to the far south, BBQ pork on a bun is found in many roadhouse restaurants in many of the southern states. My recipe for “Pulled Pork on a Bun” begins with a nice boneless piece of pork. I season this with Garlic Plus, (my new favourite seasoning blend -  its uses are endless!). I let the meat simmer in my slow cooker all day, or overnight. I prefer overnight because then I can pull the pork apart, add my favourite BBQ sauce, and let it continue to simmer all morning. This works especially well  if I am having company for lunch after church. I serve this with a nice bun – a ciabatta, whole wheat, white bun – which ever I am yearning for at the time. The real key to making this unique treat is choosing a BBQ sauce that you enjoy, whether it is a smoky style, or maybe a sauce with real kick! Now, to make this a “Louisiana style Pork on a Bun”, you need to take your favourite Cole Slaw, and ‘plop’ a large spoonful right onto the pulled pork. Yes you read that correctly, I said right into the sandwich! This is a messy meal, but mmmm…. It is worth every napkin!

Here you will find the basics of what you and your family will need to know to navigate the kid’s program, but for more information about who we are and for detail concerning the whats, whys and hows of our ministry, please click through our new website! Check our staff bios, curriculum and program structures, a weekly schedule of events and much more!

If you have little ones coming up with you this summer, we also encourage you to take a few minutes to fill our and mail in your Registration Form 2010, so that we can better prepare to accommodate your child’s specific needs.

This summer will see a re-birth of the MBC Youth Program.  Now comprised of three age groups:

• XT (Cross Trainers)                          Grade 4 to 5 (completed by end June, 2010)
• RIOT                                                      Grade 6 to 8 (completed by end June, 2010)
• YAC (Youth Adoring Christ)          Grade 9 to 12 (completed by end June, 2010)

The central meeting area will be the YAC room in Founder’s Hall.

We would like to encourage all parents to PRE-REGISTER your teen to ensure we are adequately prepared this summer!

Pre-registration will also help ensure the skill of their choice.  Call the office for a registration form or download here: Registration Form 2010.

New for 2010 – each participant will enrol in one skill (per week) from the following options (some additional costs for certain skills are applicable):

• Early Birds (register and pay before June 30th, 2010 and get $10 off total invoice!
• GROUPS!  Get a $200 Voucher towards another registration with every 10 registrations.

All that being said – if you get on the ball and register 10 guys or more and pay before June 30th and book into one of the cottages – the best price you can get is $159 (plus applicable taxes) not including the $200 Voucher group incentive. It WILL be worth it!
